Job Description

As a CG Environment Artist at NVIZ, you will be responsible for creating and augmenting sets and/or conceptual environments to be used as CG set extensions or full replacements. You will be required to create hard surface and organic assets, from modeling to shading and texturing, artistically meeting briefs while also technically meeting the needs of other disciplines in the pipeline.


You will also be required to lay out your environments and elements in a scene, have a good eye for shot composition and display an understanding of the logistics of how your work will be used in sequences and shots. In this role, you will report directly to your show's CG Lead and VFX Supervisor.



Key Responsibilities and Qualities


  • Create models, textures and subsequent shading and look development for large and small scale environments

  • Assemble scenes including projections, digital matte paintings and light rigs

  • Optimise scenes and elements to maximise render efficiency

  • Match photorealistic or conceptual reference imagery

  • Have excellent attention to detail

  • Receive direction and feedback well and work comfortably as part of a team

  • Meet show deadlines without compromising quality

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills


Job requirements

  • Previous experience working on feature films, episodic or full CG productions

  • Proven proficiency in all types of 3D modelling along with excellent UV layout and texturing know-how

  • Experience creating environments suited to dynamics

  • Experience working within a structured asset/shot pipeline

  • Experience working in and with teams under strict deadlines

  • Experience with photogrammetry workflows


Working Knowledge of all or several of the following tools:


  • Maya

  • Houdini

  • Arnold, Mantra

  • Zbrush, Mudbox

  • Photoshop, Substance Painter, Mari

  • Nuke

  • RealityCapture
